SUMMARY:PV - Adventure Ride - CANCELED !!!
DESCRIPTION:DUE TO WILDFIRES IN THE AREA\, THIS RIDE IS CANCELED !!!\nRead
the Club’s liability waiver and understand that your participation in a
ride constitutes acceptance of the waiver. The waiver is found here.\n\nB
efore you join ANY PV ride\, read this page which spells out what is expec
ted from you.\nPortland Velo is now offering an Adventure Ride. Generally\
, this ride will be on Saturday\, but at times may be moved to Sunday. The
se rides are seasonal and will change as the weather changes throughout th
e year. \nIf you are not a Portland Velo member and want to join us for a
ride\, use the Contact page to request links and maps sent via email.\n\n
Adventure rides are generally between 60 and 75 miles and range from 4500
to 6500 feet of climbing.  Ride starts will vary across the greater Portl
and Metro\, Hood River and the Willamette Valley.\n\nDue to weather or unf
oreseen circumstances\, Adventure rides may be canceled. Please check this
event after 5:00 pm\, the day before the ride for updates. \n\nThese are
challenging rides\, with a significant amount of climbing. The general ru
le of thumb is to regroup at the top of each climb and then descend togeth
er so we can paceline across the valleys to the next climb. Michele Chirgw
in is leading the rides and sets the pace between 18-20 mph on the flat se
ctions. Separate ride groups can be created at the start of the ride based
on individual preferences. The goal is to have fun\, stay together as muc
h as possible and to NOT leave anyone on their own.\n\nLink to the route:
(you must be logged in and have active membership to see this next section
 )\n\n[pms-restrict subscription_plans="202"]\nRoute 1: Lolo Pass (77 Miles
and 6900 ft)\n[/pms-restrict]\n\nBe sure to read the documents on the Por
tland Velo website before joining the group for the first time as this rid
e will follow all the guidelines and rules that are expected on the Saturd
ay Signature Ride.\n\nPlease make sure you have either the route downloade
d onto your GPS device (Garmin\, Wahoo\, phone etc...) or print out the cu
 e sheet.\n\nStart location:  Sandy\, Oregon - Safeway Parking Lot\n\nWe r
oll at 8:00 am\, so please arrive early enough to get ready.\n\nThere are
two water/food stops on the route and they are marked on the RWGPS map.\n\
nWater stop 1 and 2 - Brightwood Bridge Road mile 16.5 and on the return a
t mile 49\n\nHazards and suggested regroups spots are marked on the RWGPS
map.\n\nAt mile 25 plan to veer to the right as we will ascend up the sing
le lane road\, Muddy Fork Road. The names of the roads are not well marked
. Please keep your Garmin Map on.\n\nAt the first summit\, mile 31.3\, the
re is another Y. Veer to the left onto the rough paved road. The ridge roa
d is quite rough for 3 miles. Use caution.\n\nThe descent down Lolo Pass R
oad is wide open and fast. There is one gravel section at approximately mi
le 38\, which is a quarter of a mile long\, so be cautious.\n\nRemember to
turn left onto Brightwood Bridge Road at mile 49 to stock up on water and
snacks.\n\nNutrition Guidance\n\nPlease bring sufficient bars and GUs to
make your ride enjoyable and to prevent bonking. I generally plan 1 bar pe
r hour. We have two food stops\, so there will be opportunities to stock u
p.\n\nI bring two full water bottles and refill at each water stop.
