Mid-week Rides
NOTE! We are looking for ride leaders to organize and lead mid-week rides. Currently we are not offering these rides due to lack of organizers/leaders.
If you have the chance to get out and ride during the week, here’s a great option: PV’s mid-week east side rides.
What these rides are:
Small group rides with no separate speed groups. Riders are expected to be capable of maintaining an average speed of 18 mph while riding with a group on flat terrain. These rides are cooperative and we make sure no one’s left behind.
Ride length:
Usually 40 – 50 miles, sometimes longer in the summer and shorter when the weather turns cold and rainy.
When these rides occur:
These rides may occur on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, depending upon rider leaders’ availability. Generally, rides start at 9:30 am when the weather is warm, and at 10 am during the colder months.
Start locations:
Rides will usually start at 1 of these 4 locations: Wilshire Park at the intersection of NE Skidmore and NE 35th Ave. in Northeast Portland; Sellwood Riverfront Park at the intersection of the Springwater Trail and SE Spokane St in Portland; Mt. Tabor Park at SE Lincoln and SE 64th Ave; or Glenn Otto Park in Troutdale.
What you need to do if you join us on a ride – please:
- Load a copy of the route map on your gps device. It is your responsibility to know the route.
- Read this before riding with us.
- Read the Club’s liability waiver, and understand that your participation in a ride constitutes acceptance of the waiver. The waiver is found here.
We are always looking for ride leaders. For these rides to be a regular weekly occurrence, and perhaps expand to several days per week, we need ride leaders. If you’d like to volunteer to lead a ride, please drop us a line at midweekrides@pdxvelo.com
